Why are we doing this?

For many years we have been debating the possibility of buying a house in France. Like others, there is a quite magical attraction in the idea but somehow we keep sticking to "logic" and inventing reasons why such a project is unreasonable. Yvonne is about to retire from full time work. Randall has been downshifting for a couple of years now. Our three children are now adults and making their own ways in the world.

So we have agreed to spend six months of 2007 living in France. We have rented a series of Gites Rurales, mostly South of the Loire. We have selected locations of interest developed during previous visits to France. We are aiming to finally make a decision on this potential project toward the end of the year.
